The State Aid Department has been established in the Ministry of Finance in order to implement monitoring and transparency of the state aids at national, regional and municipal levels, on the grounds of Decree 263 of the Council of Ministers dated 17 October 1996, which amends and supplements Decree 29 of the Council of Ministers dated 25 February 1991 on the main functions and tasks of the Ministry. In accordance with Art.1 of the Rules for implementing the state aid provisions, envisaged in Art.64 of the Europe Association Agreement, the Ministry of Finance has been identified as a monitoring body in relation to the state aids in Bulgaria.
